Massive T-Mobile Outage

If you're a T-Mobile customer in Nashville and Memphis, Tennessee; Birmingham and Mobile, Alabama; and Louisville, Kentucky, you probably do not have cell coverage right now. There is some sort of massive, multiple switchboard outage that is preventing calls from being connected to the towers.

The wait time for a tier-2 customer service rep was 1 hour, 20 minutes.

[Bedtime update: Still no service, over 3 hours after I was told they were going to have it handled in two hours (which I was told two hours after I was initially told it was going to be two hours).]

the chimp that I spoke with, Mercedes, said it was a "global" outage...and that was over three hours ago.

By "global," I think they mean a "covering nearly an entire region."

And while the wait time to get to the tier 2 rep was 1 hour 20 minutes, they said the problem *may* be resolved in 2 hours (of course, the initial recording when I first called 2 hours before that said it would be 2 hours, so...).

My tenacity paid off in the form of 100 free minutes for both lines on the account. Meh...

a different chimp offered me 25 bonus minutes i told her not to bother offending me with such a pathetic offer. two months ago some towers were dropping calls rather than forwarding to voice mail. l3 support blamed my phone. two weeks later they admitted a routing problem that affected a few towers. the only way i knew there was a problem was when my g/f called and blessed me out for sending her to vm nine times in a row. i wish cingular worked in my house, not that they are any better but they are at least gsm. four hours later and they are still down...

Sunday morning I got a $10 credit for the outage.
